Vampire Weekend

A few months ago, I got a message on my answering machine from a friend who was nearly incapacitated with laughter: “I just heard this Vampire Weekend song called ‘Oxford Comma,’” she gasped, “and the lyrics are all about a girl who cares too much about grammar and alienates everyone because of it! Oh my god. I thought of you.” This was a call placed by one editor to another, between Minutia-Freak A and Minutia-Freak B. The pot was definitely calling the kettle black, but that was beside the point: Vampire Weekend had hit a nerve.
