By all outward expressions, Matt Sharp is an uncomfortable person, yet he speaks with the cool confidence and cohesiveness of a diplomat or negotiator. With glasses that honestly allude to intelligence framing his limpid black eyes, and gentle features inviting eye-to-eye contact, he lures you in. Is he sizing you up? His bold, confident pauses between articulate, deliberate words, compete with squirming arms and legs to send a confusing message, like his brain is not at home in his body, or his body is uncomfortable with his brain. At one time, he claimed to be “The Man With Two Brains”; he now admits experiencing “Life Without a Brain”. Has his body won this cognitive conflict? Has brain learned to transcend body?
