Everybody in Philadelphia is sick. The members of Portugal. The Man punctuate their speech with sniffles, and trains of thought consistently get derailed. There are a lot of ellipses in our conversation, the type of pause that occurs when a thought is struggling against all odds to break through a fog of cough medicine and sleep deprivation. At the time of our interview, the band is on the fourth day of their third consecutive nationwide tour. In the last four and a half months, they have only been home for three days.
