“Imminent doom.” According to Colour Revolt, that’s what propels their intense energy. Of course, the devastating tornado that ripped through the band’s hometown of Oxford, Mississippi the day before our interview may have influenced their answer.
Over the phone, from the house he shares with fellow Colour Revolt guitarist Sean Kirkpatrick, Jimmy Cajoles relates seeing the tornado from his office window. “I was like, ‘You know what, I’m probably gonna die.’ And then the lights cut out in the building,” said Cajoleas. “And then it destroyed Industrial Park, barely a mile from where I work. Imminent doom, you know? The dark and looming inevitability, that’s what it is.”
