Fantastic Negrito Releases New Song, "The Duffler"

fantastic negrito please dont be dead

GRAMMY® Award-winning Fantastic Negrito has released a new song, "The Duffler," from his soon-to-be-released album, PLEASE DON'T BE DEAD, out June 15 on Blackball Universe/Cooking Vinyl. "The Duffler" premiered last Friday via Rolling Stone. "'The Duffler' is a very familiar story," says Negrito. "A story about someone having something and not appreciating it until it's gone, when it's too late. Given current events, I think America is in that space right now."

There is desperation and urgency in Fantastic Negrito's new album PLEASE DON'T BE DEAD. For anyone who ever felt like it was over yet hoped it wasn't, this is your music.
"I wrote this album because I fear for the life of my black son," says Negrito. "I fear for the lives of my daughters. I am uncertain about what kind of future they will face. Will someone shoot up their school? Will they become addicted to prescription pills? Will they wind up on the street, sleeping under freeways and overpasses? Will the police murder my son? I came up with the name Please Don't Be Dead because I felt like we'd lost of our way as a society - and I know what happens when you chase the wrong things. It's the story of my life."
PLEASE DON'T BE DEAD - which follows 2016's GRAMMY® Award-winning THE LAST DAYS OF OAKLAND - was heralded by the lead track, "Plastic Hamburgers," which premiered via NPR in March. It is available at all DSPs and streaming services.

Arcade Fire return to SNL with two songs from 'Everything Now'

Arcade Fire SNL 2018

Watch Arcade Fire return to Saturday Night Live for their fifth appearance as they perform two songs from their 2017 album, Everything Now. First up is "Creature Comfort", with the band all decked out in sparkling gold suits. Their second performance is "Put Your Money On Me", which features lead singer Win Butler wandering amongst slot machines while the band is backed by anti-capitalist and anti-consumerist video projections.

Fun fact: Arcade Fire have made five appearances on SNL, but only four were as the featured musical guest. In 2012, they served as Mick Jagger's backing band.
